Black Copper Marans, Birchen Marans, Splash Marans & Cuckoo Marans
Marans hens lay a rich dark brown egg – the darkest of all the breeds. This special quality comes from a recessive gene that they carry. The Marans breed was developed in the fishing village of Marans, France during the late 19th century. The French strain has feathered legs, while the English version is clean-legged.
